Description
Savlon Burns & Scalds 0.25% w/w Cream
Savlon Burns & Scalds 0.25% w/w Cream treats minor burns and scalds, sunburn blisters, abrasions, scratches and infected cracked skin in adults, the elderly and children. The active ingredient is chlorhexidine gluconate, an antibacterial agent which helps to prevent infection.
Directions
- For general use: Apply freely and smooth gently into the affected skin.
- For cuts, abrasions or burns: Spread freely and if necessary cover with a dressing.
Ingredients
- Active Ingredient: Chlorhexidine gluconate 20% solution 1.25% v/w.
- Other Ingredients: Arlatone, cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, dimeticone 20, glycerol, quinoline yellow lake (E104) and purified water.
Cautions
- Savlon Burns & Scalds 0.25% w/w Cream may in rare cases cause allergic reactions, leading to a drop in blood pressure and even to unconsciousness. Early symptoms of a severe allergic reaction may be a skin rash or asthma. If you notice these symptoms, stop using the cream and contact your doctor as soon as possible.
- Avoid contact with the brain, meninges (the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord) and middle ear.
- Savlon Burns & Scalds 0.25% w/w Cream must not come into contact with the eye due to the risk of visual damage. If it comes into contact with the eyes, wash out immediately and thoroughly with water. In case of any irritation, redness or pain in the eye, or visual disturbance, ask for medical advice promptly. Serious cases of persistent corneal injury (injury to the surface of the eye) potentially requiring corneal transplant have been reported when similar products have accidentally come into contact with the eye during surgical procedures in patients under general anaesthesia (deep painless sleep).
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are breastfeeding.
- Savlon Burns & Scalds 0.25% w/w Cream contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Do not use Savlon Burns & Scalds 0.25% w/w Cream:
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to chlorhexidine gluconate or any of the other ingredients.
- If you have an operation, as contact with the brain or spinal cord, and the middle ear should be avoided.
- In body cavities (e.g. mouth, vagina, inner ear).
