Night Nurse Liquid relieves the major symptoms of colds, chills and flu during the night, including shivers, aches and pains, runny noses, tickly coughs, sore throats and headaches. It contains three active ingredients to help you get through the night:
Night Nurse Liquid relieves the major symptoms of colds, chills and flu during the night, including shivers, aches and pains, runny noses, tickly coughs, sore throats and headaches. It contains three active ingredients to help you get through the night:
- Paracetamol: a painkiller that also reduces your temperature when you have a fever.
- Dextromethorphan hydrobromide: a cough suppressant that relieve dry or tickly coughs.
- Promethazine hydrochloride: an antihistamine that dries up runny noses and aids restful sleep.
Directions
Adults and children over 12 years:
- Fill the measuring cup to the 20ml mark.
- Take one 20ml dose at bedtime.
- Do not take if you have already taken 4 doses of a paracetamol-containing product during the day.
- Do not take for more than 3 days.
Ingredients
- Active Ingredients: Paracetamol (1000mg, Promethazine Hydrochloride 20mg and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 15mg per 20ml dose.
- Other Ingredients: Liquid Glucose, Ethanol (Alcohol), Macrogol 300, Sodium Cyclamate, Acesulfame K, Sodium Citrate, Ascorbic Acid, Disodium Edentate, Medicated Flavour Oil, Colours Quinoline Yellow (E104) and Patent Blue V (E131) and Purified Water.
Cautions
- Do not take anything else containing paracetamol while taking this medicine.
- Do not take with any other cold, flu or decongestant product.
- Do not drive or operate machinery if after taking this product you experience any of the following: drowsiness, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, movement difficulties or blurred vision.
- Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.
- Night Nurse Liquid contains 18% v/v ethanol (alcohol) i.e. up to 2.9g per dose, equivalent to 72ml beer, 130ml wine. This could be harmful if you suffer from alcoholism. This should also be considered if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, in children and high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
- If you have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, promethizane hydrochloride, dextromethorpan hydrochloride or to any of the other ingredients.
- If you have chest problems, worsening asthma or severe respiratory problems.
- If you tave taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (e.g. moclobemide) prescribed for depression in the last 2 weeks.
- If you are having a pregnancy test carried out and your urine.
- If you are under 12 years of age.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you have heart, kidney or liver problems.
- If you have glaucoma, epilepsy, difficulty passing urine or prostate problems.
- If you have chronic or persistant cough accompanied by excessive phlegm or respiratory problems.
- If you are on a controlled-sodium diet. Each 20ml dose contains 37mg of sodium.
- If you are elderly and suffer from confusion.
- If you are taking any prescribed medicines, particularly:
- Metoclopramide or domperidone (for nausea or vomiting).
- Colestyramine (to lower blood cholesterol).
- Medicines which give you blurred vision, a dry mouth or make you drowsy.
- Blood thinning drugs (anticoagulants e.g. warfarin).
- Quinidine or amiodarone (to control your heart rhythm.
- Medicines for anxiety or depression (e.g. selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) or tricyclic antidepressant) or to help you sleep.
