Description
Frontline Spot On for Medium Dogs 10-20kg
Frontline Spot On for Medium Dogs is for the treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations, and for the control of biting lice.
Frontline Spot On is fast acting, killing fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours. Long lasting, Frontline protects dogs against fleas for up to 2 months and against ticks for up to a month.
Frontline Spot On is water resistant, meaning that from 48 hours after application, your pet can swim or be bathed as usual.
As Frontline Spot On has a non-systemic mode of action, it kills parasites through contact, not via your pet's bloodstream. It kills fleas and ticks by affecting their nervous system. This can cause disoriented, dying fleas to rise to the surface, so you may notice more fleas after applying the product - this is a sign that the treatment is working.
Frontline Spot On is safe for use in breeding, pregnant and lactating bitches but is not suitable for puppies under 8 weeks of age, or for sick or convalescing dogs. Frontline Spot On for Medium Dogs should only be used for dogs weighing between 10kg and 20kg.
How often should I apply Frontline Spot On for Dogs?
Do not apply Frontline Spot On more frequently than 4 week intervals. Always read the instructions in full prior to treatment.
Remember, it is important to treat your dog all year round, as centrally heated homes make an ideal breeding ground for fleas.
Treating flea infestations
It's important to know that it's normal to see fleas on your pet as they pick up new fleas that are hatching out from pupae in the environment. These will be killed within 24 hours of jumping onto your treated pet. However, if you’re seeing a large number of fleas, this is a sign that your home environment is infested.
You should use Frontline Spot On alongside a household flea spray containing an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). Carpets and furnishings must then be vacuumed regularly and pet bedding should be washed above 60°C.
This will kill flea eggs and larvae, but not pupae, so new adult fleas will still be seen on your pet until they have all hatched out of their pupae and into the environment. You should treat your pet every four weeks to bring the flea population under control.
