Worm Adult dogs with Drontal XL every three months unless you live in a farming area where dogs can be wormed as frequently as every two weeks.
The connection between fleas and worming, fleas are often infected wih a larval stage of the flea tapeworm, if your dog swallows an infected flea a worm may develop in the gut, which is a good reason to worm with Drontal Plus, and use a flea treatment at the same time.
A dog infected with worms may show some symptoms like irritation of the bottom, which may be a sign of tapeworm problems, dragging the bottom across the ground could be your dog's way of telling you their may be a problem. There are a few other signs such as: vomiting, a dull coat, a lack of vitality, perhaps they are off their food or a pot bellied appearance, which would be more common in puppies. If your dog is showing any behaviour you are not absolutely certain about we would suggest you contact your vet as soon as possible. However these signs are not always common, and in the early stages of infection possibly non existent, in fact dogs infected with worms may be showing no signs at all. This is why we suggest worming with products such as Drontal XL every three months.
Drontal XL tablets can be used on dogs 35kg and over, Drontal Plus may be used half a tablet over this weight for accurate dosing. Drontal is also available as Drontal Puppy Suspension for easy use in puppies, this does not treat for tapeworm, but this can be rare in very young dogs.
