Description

Aptamil Follow on Milk Powder

Aptamil Follow On Milk Powder with Pronutra-ADVANCE is nutritionally tailored to complement a weaning diet from 6-12 months.
For babies of this age, milk remains an important part of their diet and they still need 500-600ml of breast milk or formula milk a day

Inspired by 40 years of breastmilk research, Aptamil Follow On Milk Powder's next generation formulation with GOS/FOS (9:1) (a patented blend of Galacto- and Fructo-oligosaccharides) includes:

  • Vitamin D to support the normal function of the immune system
  • Iron to support normal cognitive development
  • Omega-3 (DHA) to support normal visual development.
Aptamil Follow On Milk Powder is Halaal approved but is not suitable for a vegetarian or vegan diet.

Directions

Important feeding instructions
  • Make up each feed as required
  • For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds and discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible, and always within 2 hours
  • Do not heat feeds in a microwave, hot spots may occur and cause scalding
  • Never add extra scoops or anything else to your baby’s feed
  • Never leave your baby alone during feeding
How to prepare Aptamil Follow On Milk

Because powdered milks are not sterile, failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill.
  • Step 1Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions.
  • Step 2Boil 1 litre of fresh water. Leave kettle to cool for 30 minutes and no longer (allowing the water to reach 70°C once cooled from boiling). Measure the required amount of water (refer to the feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
  • Step 3Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built in leveller. Do not press/heap the powder.
  • Step 4Add the correct measure of powder to the water. This can be found in the feeding guide on the back of the pack. Adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful. Shake vigorously and vertically for 10 seconds until the powder is dissolved. Rolling the bottle or shaking in circles will not be sufficient.
  • Step 5Cool under running tap. Check temperature of feed. Feed immediately.
How to prepare a powdered beakerfeed without tap water

It's important to be careful with the water you use to prepare a formula feed if your normal drinking water supply is either interrupted or contaminated. Follow these Food Standards Agency guidelines to make sure you prepare the baby formula safely.
  • Step 1Use bottled water or water from a bowser (a water tank provided by water companies) and bring it to a rolling boil. Leave it covered to cool for no more than half an hour.
  • Step 2If there's no electricity or gas to boil with, bottled table, spring or mineral water can be used and the prepared feed should be used immediately. The use of unboiled bowser water should be avoided.
  • Step 3Some bottled water labelled as 'natural mineral water' may have high levels of sodium or sulphate. Read the label carefully and check that the figure for sodium (Na) is not higher than 200mg per litre and sulphate (SO or SO4) is not higher than 250mg per litre. If it is, then try to use another water. If no other water is available, then use this water for as short a time as possible.
  • Step 4Follow the normal instructions for making up the feed.

Cautions

  • Do not heat feeds in a microwave, hot spots may occur and cause scalding.
  • Never add extra scoops or anything else to your baby's feed. Never leave your baby alone during feeding.
  • Aptamil Follow On Milk is only for babies over 6 months, as part of a mixed diet. It should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months.
  • The decision to start weaning including the use of this product before 6 months should be made only on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on baby's individual needs.
  • When bottle feeding do not allow prolonged or frequent contact of milk feeds with your baby's teeth as this increases the risk of tooth decay. Ask your healthcare professional or dentist for advice. Make sure your baby's teeth are cleaned after the last feed at night.
  • Store powder in a cool dry place, do not refrigerate.
  • Use powder within 4 weeks of opening.
